Experienced Aspen Attorney Robert Francis

An attorney based in Basalt, Colorado, Robert Francis has managed operations as the owner of Aspen’s Robert Francis Attorney at Law since 1971. Robert Francis became one of the region’s first real estate law practitioners and maintains his broker’s license over five decades later. As an attorney in Aspen, he practices several fields of law. He has also served the community as a first responder, including a decade with Mountain Rescue Aspen.

Robert Francis achieved the rank of First Lieutenant during his time with the United States Marine Corps. He practiced criminal law as an associate lawyer at John Tommey Attorney at Law between 1968 and 1970, during which time he represented the state’s most prominent serial killer. As the assistant district attorney for the City of Aspen, the district judge asked him to represent Ted Bundy shortly before Bundy’s escape.

A former president of the Pitkin County Bar Association, Robert Francis graduated with honors from the University of Michigan Law School. He earned an economics degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. In addition to his work in law, he enjoys studying languages; he has gained proficiency in French, Spanish, and German.
